It’s the tale of a couple who falls in love, and despite the odds, drops everything thing in order to be together. Sounds romantic, right?
What if I told you the man is a teacher who left his wife and kids to move in with one of his former students — an 18-year old-girl?
James Hooker recently resigned as a high school teacher in Modesto. He met the girl, Jordan Powers, when she was a freshman in his class but insists they only became romantically involved after she turned 18. In fact, Mr. Hooker sees nothing wrong with the situation.
Jordan’s mother has gone to the police in an attempt to send the former teacher to jail. She’s convinced the relationship started sooner. She started a Facebook page saying students witnessed her daughter sitting on Mr. Hooker’s lap in class, and that the two would exchange up to 8,000 text messages a month.
Hooker says he has no regrets about the whole situation.
What do you think?
The student’s mother says the teacher should face criminal charges. Do you agree with the mother?
