The Massachusetts race for Senate has ignited a national debate over sexism in politics.

In the Democratic debate, frontrunner Elizabeth Warren was asked by a college student about how she paid for college. The man she hopes to unseat, Sen. Scott Brown, posed naked for Cosmo to help pay his tuition. Warren jokingly responded, “I kept my clothes on.” When asked about Warren’s statement the next day on a radio show, Brown said, “thank God.”

Women are outraged. They say that Brown was sexist and demeaning women with his remark. Others say they were both joking and Warren started it.

Was the “thank God” comment by Brown in regard to Warren offensive?
