I don’t know that I’m ready to replace my alarm system, but earlier this week one man in Georgia took to Facebook to call for help when burglars were in his house.
College student Nitesh Bhakta was at home in his room when robbers broke into his house. Bhakta fled his room to hide in the attic. With no way out and no way to call the police, Bhakta sent out a cry for help over Facebook.
Bhakta’s single word status update of “HELLLLLLLLP!” was all it took to raise the alarm. A friend saw the post and called 911 and police arrived in time to capture one of the masked men who had tied up Bhakta’s grandmother and sister before ransacking the house.
Police say without Bhakta’s Facebook cry for help, it could have been the next morning before anyone found the family.
